Bio

Tatu Nikkanen was born in Helsinki in 1971. After a childhood in Finland and adolescence in Austria, he moved to Great Britain in the early 90's, where he has been living and working ever since. Inspired by the folk-religions and mythologies of various cultures (especially his native Finland) and the imaginative world of children's play, Tatu is engaged in exploring the many ways humanbeings inter-act with the 'other', invisible side of reality. His art work ranges from animistic wood-carvings and scrap dolls, to icon painting and photography, to writing, comics and performance (-and play, of course).
